Staff Openings 2010-2011

Dalat International School (DIS) is looking to fill the following positions for the upcoming school year. Dalat is a Christian boarding school located on the island of Penang off the west coast of Malaysia. The school has been providing a quality education for missionary and expatriate children in South East Asia for over 80 years. DIS is seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, caring professionals who are professing Christians. Candidates must have an understanding of Christian education and have the ability to integrate Biblical principles in their teaching. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be adept with technology and demonstrate flexibility in working in a cross-cultural environment. Candidates must be willing to incorporate cooperative learning strategies and ESL-sensitive instruction.Teachers are expected to have a bachelor's degree or higher and be certified. Two or more years of experience are preferred.

High School Science Teacher

DIS is looking for an engaging and hands on high school science teacher. Courses this person will be teaching may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or Human Anatomy. High School Math Teacher

DIS is looking for a high school math teacher who can challenge and instruct the upper level math students. Experience in teaching AP Calculus is preferred. Other courses for this teacher could include Pre-Calculus, Algebra II, and/or Geometry. A valid teaching certificate and 2+ years of teaching experience are needed. High School Math / Science Teacher

DIS is looking for high school teacher with experience in teaching both science and math courses. Possible courses for this position would include Physical Science, Algebra I, and/or Geometry. Humanities / Bible Teacher

DIS is looking for a humanities teacher with experience teaching Psychology and AP Psychology. Possible bible courses to be added to this persons schedule to make it full time. Experience with teaching an online course is preferred but not required. Other humanities courses might be included to fill out the teacher's schedule. A valid teaching certificate and 2+ years of teaching experience are needed. High School Art Teacher

DIS is seeking a dynamic and qualified art teacher for the high school fine arts department. The position involves teaching a foundational art class (three sections), an advanced art class, and Master Studio / AP Art. Experience with AP is preferred but not required. Middle School English

DIS is looking for a dynamic and passionate English teacher for the middle school division. This position includes teaching 7^th grade English, 8^th grade English, and one bible course. Middle School Counselor / MS Academic Coordinator

DIS is seeking an outgoing and energetic MS counselor to join the school's guidance department. This person would also fill the role of MS coordinator, an assistant administrative role for the middle school division. The MS coordinator is involved in helping schedule classes, organize the student advisory teams, plan the different student retreats, and other academic responsibilities. Technology Specialist

Dalat is a leader in the integration of technology and needs a technology specialist for next year. The technology specialist will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading the campus computer systems and network. Previous experience with PowerSchool or other school administration software program, Windows Server, Exchange Server, database systems, and PC hardware are preferred. Residence Life Dorm Parents

DIS is looking for candidates that experience a specific call by God to the ministry of dorm parenting and possess spiritual maturity and a commitment to personal integrity. Dorm parents are expected to be nurturing, loving and passionate about discipling students. Candidates will need to demonstrate evidence of a healthy marriage relationship, proven parenting skills with the ability to raise children according to Biblical values, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Dorm parents must be hard-working and self-motivated, hospitable, and desire to live and minister cross-culturally. DIS dorms are multi-ethnic, co-ed, mixed ages (elementary through high school) with up to 16 students per dorm family. Residence Life / School Nurse

DIS is in need of a full time residence life / school Nurse. The nurse lives on campus, works with our residence life program, but also provides care for all students during the academic day. A nurse's degree and current certification is needed with 2 or more years of experience, school nursing experience is an asset. Part Time Positions:

Community Service Coordinator (.25 position)

The graduating class of 2014 will be required to have a number of community service hours for graduation. The community service coordinator will be responsible for developing the program of community service in the high school, establishing working agreements with programs and organizations in the area, and oversee the completion of community service hours by the students. Administrative and organizational skills are necessary. This position would be combined with other responsibilities or teaching to bring it up to a full time load.

ES Music / HS Choir Teacher

DIS is looking for an elementary music teacher to work with our pre-school through fourth grade students. The ES music teacher coordinates and puts on two elementary musicals each year. This person will also be working with our high school students and teaching the HS choir class. HS Spanish Teacher

DIS is looking for a part time foreign language teacher with experience teaching first and second level Spanish. "Ven conmigo!”by Holt, Rinehart and Winston is used for the classes. A valid teaching certificate and 2+ years of teaching experience are needed. Potential full time assignment if combined with other part time positions. ES Computer Teacher

DIS is looking for a computer teacher to work with our elementary students in Kindergarten through grade 4. Each grade meets once a week where students are introduced to important technology skills and proper use of computers. Potential full time assignment if combined with other part time positions.
