Give $80 for Dalat’s 80th Anniversary! That is what each Dalat Alumni is asked to give in November and December to benefit education for missionary kids at the school and purchase new musical instruments for Dalat’s growing Fine Arts Department. Dalat International School gives over 200 scholarships and student discounts to mission families and as an independent school receives no financial support from any organizations. Dalat needs Alumni help to continue to succeed! You will be receiving a brochure and 80th Anniversary DVD in the mail soon. Why is Dalat having an Alumni fundraiser?
The Alumni Fund gives the chance to Dalat Alumni to make an investment in the school that made an investment in them. Rising costs are putting pressure on families and the school. To avoid raising fees we need help.
How much does each student receive in scholarships?
The amount varies according to grade. High school students (Grades 9 to 12) receive $5000 each year in academic discounts, middle school an average of $4500, and elementary students $2500. Boarding students receive an additional $5000 each year in boarding cost discounts. Dalat also provides an additional $30,000 in scholarships each year on top of student discounts.
Is Dalat operating within its budget?
Yes. Dalat's operating budget is fully covered by tuition. School Board policy mandates a balanced budget.
How much should I give?
This year, we are aking every alumnus to give $80 in honor of Dalat's 80th anniversary in 2009. Even if you are unable to give that amount, any gift is welcome - the important thing is that everyone participates.
Can I designate my gift?
You can designate your gift be used for missionary kid education or musical instruments.
Are my gifts tax deductible?
In the United States yes. Dalat International School is a registered non-profit organization in the US. Unfortunately we do not yet hold that status in other countries.
How can I give?
Beginning in November 2009, gifts will be accepted by cash, check, or credit card. Use PayPal and your credit card on the alumni or school website, or mail in the your check to the addresses above in the US or Malaysia. How will I be recognized?
All who give to the Alumni Fund will be recognized for their gifts in our newsletters and final Alumni Fund report.
Can my gift be anonymous?
Yes.
What if I want to give to something other than student scholarships or musical instruments?
If you would like to give to Dalat athletics, the dorms, library or anything else you can think of that will benefit Dalat International School you are welcome to do so. We will make sure that each gift is used with the intent in which it is given.
